About Brian

I am a follower of Jesus, blessed with a wife, two children, and a call to serve God wherever He leads. For 12 years, we were missionaries, with me serving as a missionary journalist sharing stories of His work in South Africa and around the world. When we moved back to the USA, Tracy and the kids returned to normal work, and I continued serving remotely in missions. I am now returning to working outside missions, but ministry will always be part of our family's lives in Christ.

Stumped

I got stumped recently.

That happens a lot as a writer, but I mean this one literally: I was mowing the lawn when I hit a stump.

Courage, optimism, and bacon

I really loved my students.

I loved teaching high school English – diving into stories and dictionaries, dissecting words and meaning, helping students understand messages and create their own – but what I loved more was building relationships with students and helping them grow and learn.

It’s a great, big, small world

Except for college, I have lived my entire life within a 2¼-mile radius.

That’s no exaggeration.  My childhood home, my first apartment, and the three houses where Tracy and I have lived all fit within a 2.249-mile radius circle.  Medieval peasants were more mobile.
