It was 2004, and we rested in the home’s shady courtyard, as grateful to escape the hot sun of Kaffrine, Senegal as we were to worship the God whom we had spent days serving in medical huts. We sat on the ground, sang songs in several languages, and witnessed something incredibly rare among the Wolof people.

Shedding the load
My computer power was almost out, I had to hurry. There was only one hour to try to charge it as much as I could or I would be stuck without it until tomorrow.
“Stage 1 load shedding will be implemented from 1700 – 2200.”
Right. Find the power cord. Find the adapter. At 3% power – how much will I get in one hour? We’ll see.

Following, not directing
God, having infinite love and joy (among many other attributes), sometimes just pours out both in ways that become quite humorous. A failed attempt to see a friend, a canceled flight, an unsuccessful phone call, and a chance conversation in a hallway I didn’t have a good reason to walk down came together Saturday into something amusingly beautiful.
I just wanted to get home.
Saturday morning, I went to the hotel lobby and grabbed a paper, headed into the restaurant for some pancakes and bacon, and settled in for a little relaxation before leaving for the airport around noon.
That was my plan, anyway. A text from Delta informed me there was another.
