So goes a frequent exchange between a joyful Billy and me. He doesn’t want me to reply in any other way, and he doesn’t want me to stop being goofy. Karen often wants me to improvise songs about broccoli from Tennessee or to tell her stories about bacon.

I got stumped recently.
That happens a lot as a writer, but I mean this one literally: I was mowing the lawn when I hit a stump.
This has been a great and busy month! We are so grateful for the progress made toward our serving in Cape Town:
Except for college, I have lived my entire life within a 2¼-mile radius.
That’s no exaggeration. My childhood home, my first apartment, and the three houses where Tracy and I have lived all fit within a 2.249-mile radius circle. Medieval peasants were more mobile.
I try to grow in my faith and understanding, to follow Jesus ever more closely, and to speak only things that uplift, inspire, inform, or amuse.
Like most people I know, though, I am human, and I sometimes say the wrong thing clearly or the right thing imperfectly.
Anything I say poorly is my own fault and should not be taken to reflect the views of my God, my church, my fellow Christians, or the missionary organization through which I formerly worked.
