I am a follower of Jesus, blessed with a wife, two children, and a call to serve God wherever He leads. For 12 years, we were missionaries, with me serving as a missionary journalist sharing stories of His work in South Africa and around the world. When we moved back to the USA, Tracy and the kids returned to normal work, and I continued serving remotely in missions. I am now returning to working outside missions, but ministry will always be part of our family's lives in Christ.
Part of our training to be a missionary has involved reading. A lot of reading. We have a stack of books about 19 inches tall or so, plus online classes.
African Friends and Money Matters is a collection of 90 observations about cultural differences in practice and perspective between Africans and Westerners regarding social responsibility and the use of money and other resources.

In a few hours, the kids and I will get Tracy from the airport. There will be wide smiles, joyful shrieks, and tearful hugs. There will be wholeness and warmth and catharsis.

I was reading coverage of Baltimore’s riots last night when I realized that “America” probably looks pretty scary in other countries’ news.
Maybe even as scary as “Africa” often seems to people over here.
